GREAT 8 LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLES

COMMUNICATE

Communicating is a skill, dynamic and human behavior stretching way beyond simplistic ‘Sender – Receiver - Barriers’ information typically presented in Communications training.  True leadership must understand the individual, human nature, group and organizational behaviors connected to organizational communications.  Real leadership delves deeply into influencing others to truly buy-in, learn and understand; not forcing it but respectfully facilitating consensus. Communication applications touch on principles such as visioning, values, teaching, creating upward flow of ideas and making a chain of command functional way beyond the norm in most organizations.  Real beauracratic, systemic barriers are identified, and eliminated by the knowledgeable leader.  The power and capability of leadership clearly connects the dots between communication and all of the Great Eight concepts.  Whether one on one, within a team setting or getting the whole organization on the same page – leadership knows how to do it.  The leader who communicates successfully is likely also the one who gets that communication issues are more often than not actually relationship issues!  The art of leadership communication is improved by the other seven, while also being instrumental in the success of the other seven here.
